There’s a beautiful contradiction in motherhood—Caroline, effortlessly grounding and steady, while Evy, a streak of purple and laughter, is wild and free. And somehow, they meet perfectly in the middle. Watching them lie in the grass, hair tangled together like roots of the same tree, or wrapped in a blanket as the evening air turned crisp, felt like looking at something ancient and unbreakable.
Caroline and Evy showed up to this session at Quabbin Reservoir ready to make it their own personal storybook, and honestly, they nailed it. I gathered some blooms from my garden to bring, and Evy, being an icon of good taste, immediately claimed them as her own. That bouquet was thrown, twirled, gifted, reclaimed, and at one point, almost eaten (by whom? Unclear).
And if this wasn’t already the dreamiest session, let’s not forget that the entire time, Quabbin was just showing off in the background—rolling hills, golden fields, and a sunset so soft it felt like the sky was in on the moment. Sessions like this are why I do what I do—freezing fleeting, messy, beautiful moments so they can be relived again and again.
