Alissa and Pete’s August wedding at Farm Road Estate in West Dover, Vermont was the kind of day where your cheeks hurt from smiling and maybe also from weeping a little bit over wildflower arrangements and vows. These two did away with the wedding party hoopla and just surrounded themselves with loved ones, their niece and nephew as flower girl and ring bearer, and a sky that honestly deserves its own IMDb credit. Pete even handed over his glorious mane to someone else’s expert hands for the first time (there was product involved, and zero regrets). Meanwhile, Alissa floated around like someone who had stepped out of a dream and directly into a field of emotional support dahlia stems.
And then. Right before dinner. Just as guests were getting comfy with their cocktails and seasonal crudités, Alissa and Pete stood up to give a thank-you speech and casually dropped the bombshell that they’re expecting a baby. The collective gasp was followed by standing ovations, hugs, and a few misty eyes from the crowd (and okay, maybe from behind the camera too). The celebration carried on into the night—except for one of Pete’s friends who succumbed to the siren song of an armchair and a full heart. Naturally, he became the honorary photo booth backdrop for the rest of the night.
