New York residents Kristen & Marco decided on Vermont as their wedding destination because they wanted a relaxed getaway where they could throw a big party and enjoy the beauty of nature. Kristen has been visiting the Green Mountains for most of her life at her parents’ second home, and Marco went to college in Vermont, so they both had a fond history with this beautiful state.
The Old Gray Barn in Dorset had our jaws dropping the moment we turned onto its long gravel road that looked like it led into a painting. This is a true barn that has been renovated just enough to host parties but still maintain its rustic, carefree charm- and everywhere you look there are fields, mountains, and let’s not forget the cows.
Bondville Bloomist set up some stunning installations on the arch in the field for the ceremony, where it started raining once all of the guests arrived. We knew this would be a good crowd when they all laughed and held chairs over their heads until the weather passed. Just as the clouds opened up and the golden sun came through, Kristen walked down the aisle to the most dramatic vocal moment in Dark Side of the Moon, making it all so surreal we had chills! That song, along with nothing but perfect beats well into the wild night were provided by the talented DJ Flo.
But of all the things we loved about this wedding, the most memorable part was how often we were laughing, enjoying our time with Kristen and Marco, and felt like we had been warmly welcomed into this group of great people.
Congrats to Kristen and Marco!
