When I say the historic estate at Topsmead State Forest is sprawling, I mean it’s the kind of place where you can hit your daily step goal just by wandering around scouting for the best light before the session even begins. Photographing Ally and Mike at the former summer home of Edith Morton Chase basically means we were hanging out where 1920s copper heiresses used to sip lemonade and read poetry in heavy linen. Casual.
Ally wore a sky-blue dress that looked like she walked out of a Botticelli painting and into golden hour, while Mike brought cozy, classic plaid energy. And Benji? Benji served face. And paw. And maximum tail wag. Whether lounging like royalty on the lawn or pulling focus like a pro, he was the star of every frame. We wandered meadows, leaned into the golden light, and stayed until dusk painted the sky in mauve and lilac—because when the vibes are this good, you don’t pack up early.
Can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year, Ally and Mike!
