When we planned this session at Tanglewood, where Mike & Maya have spent so many summer nights, we were chasing that golden-hour glow. But in classic July fashion, the weather had other plans. As we wrapped up, the sky cracked open—and instead of running for cover, they embraced it. Cue cinematic, rain-soaked kisses straight out of a romance movie.

I backlit the drops with a flash for that extra bit of magic, and boom—instant romance novel cover. For my fellow photographers: summer weather is unpredictable, but that’s where the magic happens. Some of my favorite images come from couples who just lean into the moment, and this session was a perfect reminder that the best memories are the ones you don’t plan for.
